The Soros Foundations/Open Society Institute are now accepting applications
for the:

ENVIRONMENTAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM (EFP)

The EFP is a two-year graduate degree program which will award a total of
20 scholarships to students from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Kazakhstan
to study environmental management in the United States.

The strongest candidates will have completed their undergraduate studies
and are currently working in the environmental field. Students in their
final year of study will also be considered provided that they can
demonstrate a strong commitment to and interest in working for
environmental reform and policy development.

Competition for the EFP is merit-based and open to any individual who
meets all of the eligibility requirements. Partial criteria are listed
below:

*Citizen of Russia, Ukraine, Moldova or Kazakhstan;

*Hold an undergraduate degree with good academic standing by June 1996;

*Fluent in written and spoken English at the time of application;

*Demonstrate an interest in and commitment to working to solve
environmental issues which confront their nation at the local or national
level;

*Able to begin two years of study in the United States in June 1996
