This is not a subject that I work on, but I think the person best qualified
to help out is Evgenia (or, more Americanized, Yevgenia) Albats. She was
(and I think still is) a correspondent for Izvestiia, and she did some
wonderful reporting from Chechny. Currentlyy, she is taking her Ph. D. in
Political Science at Harvard. You can reach her there or at the Russian
