Rule of Law Grant Program
for
Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus
The ARD/Checchi Rule of Law Consortium has announced a new grant
program for projects which strengthen "core legal institutions and
processes of the justice sector, as well as civil society as it
relates to legal development" in Ukraine, Moldova, and/or Belarus.
Examples of projects to be considered include:
* Increase public awareness of laws and legal procedures;
* Strengthen citizens groups advocating for legal change;
* Strengthen representative institutions to protect legal rights;
* Assist citizens to utilize legal system to adjudicate conflict;
* Develop professional and trade associations.
Proposals are requested from U.S. non-profit organizations in co-
partnership with corresponding entities in Ukraine, Moldova, and
Belarus. (In special circumstances official public institutions
may participate.) Grants will range from $5,000 - $100,000. The
deadline for proposals is September 15, 1995.
