IREX Short-Term Travel Grant Application Guidelines
*****************************************************************
The International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) offers travel
grants for brief visits (1-2 weeks) which do not require adminis-
trative assistance or logistical support (such as placement or
access to archives, housing, visas, travel, etc.). Please read
the following guidelines carefully, and contact IREX with any
questions on eligibility.
APPLICANTS must meet all of the following eligibility require-
ments:
* US citizen or permanent resident;
* PhD or equivalent professional/terminal degree in the project
discipline at time of application; those holding a profes-
sional/terminal degree should contact IREX regarding eligibil-
ity;
* Projects in humanities or social sciences focused on Central
and Eastern Europe or Eurasia;
* Scholars with projects concerning Mongolia, and scholars who
are employees of US federal government organizations, should
contact IREX before submitting an application, regarding
availability of funding.
APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE DATE TO QUALIFY.
DEADLINES: February 1, 1995; June 1, 1995; October 1, 1995.
Applications received after the deadline will be returned to the
sender. Applicants are encouraged to use priority mail services
to ensure that the application is received by the deadline.

Subject: Seek Program Coordinator to work in FSU & U.S.
Project Harmony, an innovative, not-for-profit cultural and
educational exchange organization based in Waitsfield,
Vermont (USA) with offices in St. Petersburg, Moscow,
Petrozavodsk and Tomsk, Russia (Former Soviet Union) is
seeking a Program Coordinator to work in the FSU and Vermont
offices.
Job description:
%Supervise and coordinate planning for numerous and varied PH
programs in the FSU and/or USA. This might require frequent
contact with Project Harmony FSU partners to assure timely
and accurate communication/arrangements for travel
%Manage the daily information flow inside and outside FSU
office on e-mail, telephone, fax and personal visits
%Organize with fellow FSU staff for recruitment and selection
of FSU secondary school students for semester programs in the
USA. Travel to Karelia, Komi, Siberia and Central Asia may be
necessary
%Facilitate the recruitment and selection of new
partners/participants for specific Project Harmony programs.
Responsibilities may include interviewing host families, high
school students, or meeting with directors of high schools in
the US or FSU
Prerequisite Skills/Experience:
%Proficiency in written and oral Russian and English
%Independent living experience in Russia
%Experience hosting a foreign exchange student or living with a
host family in another culture
%Leadership/translating experience with adult or teenage
groups
