Stichting Eastern European Assistance is a non profit foundation
established to bring aid to the Eastern European countries. We are a
registered charity, based in Amsterdam. We are very small but over the
years have brought aid into Albania, Belorus, Romania, and St. Petersburg.

At present we are looking for other organizations that are working in, or
considering working in St. Petersburg or northeastern and central Russia.

Last month we provided some small funds to the organization
The Information Center for Aid to Russian Children.

This Russian organization is creating a data base of children'ss
hospitals, orphanages, and other facilities, with information about their
work, their facilities, and their needs. It is intended to make regular
personal visits to maintain up to date information, and to provide
followup after aid is delivered.

The intent is to begin in St. Petersburg and later expand to cover all of
Russia.

The Information Center does not intend to handle any aid directly, but
rather to provide advice and data for other aid organizations so that the
aid that is brought to Russia is not wasted, by delivery where it is not
needed, or not wanted, or not properly used.

Much of the data they hope to assemble is possibly already in existance
somewhere.

I am looking for several things.

One, I am looking for other organizations that would like to share in the
support of a local office in St. Petersburg, that would maintain good
contact both inside and outside Russia. This office would be maintained
by The Information Center for Aid to Russian Children.

Secondly, I am interested to know of any other organizations that are
active in St. Petersburg or North and central Russia or expect to be in
the future.

Thirdly, if anyone knows of any similar data base, or reference
materials, please let me know.

Finally, I am attempting to establish an Iternet presence for ourselves
and for the organizaton Peter's Children.

Peter's Children is a help organization in St. Petersburg, consisting
mostly of expatriates, living in St. Petersburg, who voluteer their time
to aid hospitals, orphanages, etc..

We would both like to have better communication with the west and other
organizations working in this area.

Any contacts, and advice on good internet sources would be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Dale
