Another good source is probably Catholic Relief Services. They have been
running relief programs in the Russian Far East for the past two years, and
have just published a Guide to Non-Governmental Organizations in the Russian
Far East. The bilingual directory includes contact, financial, and basic
information on Russian NGOs operating in the fields of social welfare, the
environment and health, among others. Supplies are limited, so get yours

Editor's Note: As of last month CRS only had eight copies of the
directory left, and no plans to print more. We have a copy in our office
and would be happy to look up information upon request. If there is

Internet, provided CRS gave its permission and provided someone could
help us scan the directory into an electronic file.

The Fulbright grant and Iowa State University summer project known as
Project-Linking was funded for a second year. 12 teachers from the U.S.
will be selected to spend 5 weeks in Moscow this summer (July 1-August 5)
working on a joint curriculum with 12 teachers from the Moscow area. This
curr. will be implemented in your classrooms according to the schedule you
establish and the students will use the Internet to communicate with each
other as part of the program or to share results. This is a wonderful
opportunity for any teacher. As a participant from last year, I urge you
to apply.
The cost to you is living and spending expenses plus about $650.00 for
four hours of graduate credit through Iowa State University. The deadline
