               Employment Opportunity

The National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) is
seeking applicants with corrections experience to join their busy
international criminal justice clearinghouse.

The overall responsibility of the position involves supporting
corrections officials and others with their questions on operational,
programmatic, and research issues in corrections practices. A
primary focus is to support and enhance corrections construction
resources; collecting and sharing information on facility design, costs
and financing methods, the role of new technologies, multi-
use/complex-type facilities, and facility and programmatic needs for
selected populations. Candidates will be called upon to provide
reference and referral services, collect facility and programmatic
data, data base management and search and retriveal services,
attend and support conferences, offer other networking and outreach
support, and assist the client agency.

Applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice
(Master's Degree preferred) and 4-7 years full-time practical
experience in a correctional setting. Candidate's practical
experience should encompass custody and security, program
development, treatment, counseling and assessment, research, or
facility design and planning from either institutional based facilities
(prisons or jails), intermediate sanctions programs (ie. boot camps
or day reporting centers), or other community based programs and
alternatives (such as probation, parole, or work release). Strong
interpersonal skills including writing, speaking, and listening, and the
ability to organize work flow and manage time effectively are
necessary. Computer experience required.
