Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

Located in Central Siberia, the Republic of Sakha was formerly known as Yakutia. As one of the largest and richest in resources in Russia, it produces 98% of the diamonds and over one-quarter of the gold in this country. A vast land of over three million square kilometres, Sakha comprises 20% of Russia's total land area and 2% of the Earth's land mass. Yakutsk is the capital of the Republic.
