Arkhangelsk, City and Region

Founded in 1584, this region is located in the Northern European section of Russia bordering the very cold White, Barents and Kara Seas. Arkhangelsk is also known in the English world by the name Archangel which is the literal translation of the Russian word but is also known by the other common spellings of Archangelsk and Arkhangel'sk.
