Index of resources about the conference

A Spouses Program is offered at the Nitra Conference. Spouses will join other delegates for all Sunday events.

On Monday, spouses interested in touring the area will meet in the lobby of Agroinstitut to discuss touring alternatives with the professional guide arranged for the Spouses Progam. Spouses Excursion I will include lunch (as part of the Spouses Registration Fee) returning to Agroinstitut in the late afternoon. Spouses will join other delegates for the remainer of Monday program. Please see A Brief History of Nitra for notes on places of interest in the area.

One opportunity to consider is a visit to the the Topolcianky Palace and Museum. The palace and museum are outside the village of Topolcianky, about 35 kilometers from Nitra. Earliest construction of the castle dates from the 16th century with later construction through the 19th century, though much construction dates to the 17th century when the castle was owned by Count Rakozci and his wife, Alzbeta. One wing is a museum containing historical paintings, clocks, ceramics, embroidery, and weapons. A fine collection of Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Empire, and Biedermeier furniture is also on display. The castle's library and chapel are also certainly worth noting.

Additional information and images of Topolcianky, as well as other attractions around Nitra and Bratislava can be found online.

On Tuesday, a second special and shorter Spouses Excursion will begin at 10.00 from Agroinstitut lobby to return in time for lunch with the conferees at 13.00. Time is open after lunch until the 17.30 departure for Bratislava and the reception and banquet at the Primates Palace. On Wednesday the morning is free and the conference concludes with lunch for all delegates and spouses. trailers/mainaudem.trailer buttons/audem.main.buttons 28-August-1998
