The very beginning of third working day was marked by an interesting event. There was held a videoconference Russian Scientific Center "Kurchatovskiy Institute". Dr. Alexey Soldatov, Deputy Director od RSC, told about "Nauka-Grid" project.
Dr. Veronika Nefedova who works in Argonne National Laboratory in Chicago, touched upon a same topic.
The main goal of "Grid" project is to organize flexible, protected and coordinated using of dynamic resources by different dynamic groups of personal users and organizations.Grid makes it possible for various users ("virtual organizations") to use together remoted resources during team-work.
On Wednesday workshop participants turned attention to high performance networking and applications, hearing from Dr. Steve Goldstein of the National Science Foundation (the central person in the US who has worked to make the Internet global) and also hearing from Chip Cox, program officer on the US-Russian high performance network link.
