Development of Obninsk Civic Network
  1. Achievements during the reported period:
a) useful meetings and contacts:
  • On March 20-21 a conference took place in Obninsk. The name of the conference “Obninsk – Experience of Social Partnership: Interaction of NGOs, Business, and Government for the Solution of Local Problems”. The conference was conducted in the framework of 2 projects and supported by the IREX and the Eurasia Foundation.

b) outcomes of activities performed in Obninsk or other places:

  • A new civic-political Internet project started on the threshold of the election of city Mayor and a member of the City Council. The site mart18.obninsk.org was created. The goal of the project is to present unbiased and impartial information on the election campaign and city life during this period. After the election the site will monitor and analyze the realization of pre-election program of a winner.
  • On January 18 the first meeting of the Coordination Council of the city Civic Movement “Computer to School took place in OK_Club.
Among the participants there were the Council members (coordinators):

    • Nikolai Shestoperov Obninsk Council of Non-Profits Obninsk Civic Network
The Council considered a number of practical issues including an initiative of the Invesko-Bank to support the civic movement, a decision to connect the Educational Dept. of Obninsk City Administration to Internet using resources of OK_Club (in the framework of the OCN project) and the “Ungvar” company. Nikolai Shestoperov became a coordinator of the Civic Movement.
 
  • The first stage of the competition “Computer – 01” took place in Obninsk Computer Club on January 6 – 7. Students from 6 to 11 grades participated in this competition.
There were 2 age categories: up to 9 grade and 10-11 grades. The competition results see at http://civnet.okclub.org/result9.htm and http://civnet.okclub.org/result10.htm.

The total number of participants is 55 persons, sixteen of them presented works of their own some of which were implemented on a level close to professional one. All the participants got diplomas, honorary lists, and certificates. Winners got prizes from sponsors and founders of the competition.

  1. Brief description of activity proposed for implementation for the next reported period
    • On April 28 - 29 ÁĐŇĹĚŃ the second stage of the competition “Computer – 01” for youth under 25 years old will take place in Obninsk Computer Club.
The competition includes the following nominations: Olympiad, competition of authors’ works, competition of task works, Quake II tournament.
