The Gender in Development (GID) Project was established in 1994 with the mission to assist the women of Moldova. It has been highly successful project providing seminars for women and girls on business, gender roles, leadership, and violence. UNDP/GID also organized The Beijing Group which is a coalition of all NGO's in Moldova working with or for women. The project's goals for the future include organizing and educating women in business, working on the issue of violence in Moldova (this includes locating funds to set up the first shelter for women and legal center for domestic and societal violence), gender training for women and girls, and leadership seminars for women.
