THE AVONDALE NEIGHBORHOOD PROJECT
Location: Birmingham, Alabama
The neighborhood under study is a mixed urban residential/commercial/light industrial area five blocks deep and ten blocks long:
- bounded on the north by railroad tracks and 1st Avenue South
- bounded on the south by Fifth Avenue South and Avondale Park
- bounded on the east by Crestview Boulevard
- bounded on the west by 35th Street South
- bisected by 41st Street South, its commercial hub adjacent to Avondale Park
