Dear Donal:
(1) Many thanks for your msg
(ATTACHMENT I) with an
excellent bio and short CV (Reference (a) above).
(2) Many thanks also for your msg
(ATTACHMENT II) with an
excellent questionnaires for your simulation exercises.
Dear Peter in Nigeria, Lutfor, Debashish, and Fuad in Bangladesh and Dennis and Dr. Raman in India:
(3) This questionnaires is excellent first step prior to your constructing a
cause-and-effect diagram of system dynamics simulation to analyze complex
interwoven interrelations of various world phenomena. You may consider to invite Donal as soon as you get
a fund from the IDRC of Canada, for which you are going to apply soon as
mentioned before.
Dear WS and Andrea:
If
you have any similar ones for constructing system dynamics simulation models, pls let us know.
(4) Some of those cause-and-effect diagrams are;

Dear Andrea:
(5) Donal is going to hold his Latinia
simulation seminar in the week of February 9th at the School of International
and Public Affairs (SIPA) of Columbia University. I would strongly
suggest that you should attend it so that you could get familiar with his
simulation approach, which may be incorporated into your quantitative gaming
simulation demonstration during the conference at the CICR of SIPA of Columbia
University, which Josie is now organizing and assigned us to conduct such demonstration
in the coming May at the SIPA. When you can attend it, pls ask its details to Jenik.
Keep in touch.
Best, Tak

Tak:
I
can join in via SKYPE, depending on timing and date - please advise.
A small correction - I was in Shell for upwards of 10 years for Shell,
initially as an Engineer in the first half of the 1970s and afterwards as
Technical Manager 1988-1992. I subsequently went back on short review visits
for Shell and since retirement I have been there several times as a consultant
for another company and for one of the Nigerian semi-state entities, and I
advised a certain politician on strategic planning and prioritisation.
My total time there adds up to about 11 years. I'm attaching a short CV to give
background.
Best

Tak
and All:
If we do proceed to using a simulation its writing will be a lengthy activity
(8-10 man days, based on previous experience) which I'll need to squeeze in
between other commitments. To get a feel for what's involved it would be good
if Tak, Andrea and others were to sit in (or better still, participate) in the Latinia simulation I'll be running in Columbia in the week
of 9 February 2010 - Jenik can supply further
details.
In preparation for your teleconference next week it would be good if you all
took a look at the attached Questionnaire, which would be my starting point for
creating any simulation.
Please try to fill in as many answers as you can ahead of the teleconference
and send it back to me. I know you won't necessarily be able to fill in
everything, but the more you can supply the better it will be. I'll try to
incorporate/amalgamate all answers into a single questionnaire and get it back
to you all - we could then refer to it during the discussion.
Have a
good weekend (it's cold here in the UK!): Donal
