Dear
Dennis:
(1) My wholehearted congratulations for your receiving a wonderful message from
such a prominent person as Prof. Swaminathan.
(2) As mentioned in the Reference (a) and the Item (6) of Reference (b) above,
I strongly suggest that you develop India national economy-energy-environment simulation
models — preferably with system dynamics methodology.
Or, if you know anyone who has such a model in India, pls let us know. We will
then interconnect it with the similar ones of other countries to construct Global
Early Warning System (GEWS) with
cloud computing technology — see Reference (d) above.
(3) With this regard, I would also strongly commend that you follow HansÕ
suggestions;
(a) To hold a
workshop as Bangladeshi are now organizing (Reference (c) above), -- you may
attend it.
(b) To construct India national economy-energy-environment simulation models
(4)
As said in the Reference (a) above, this may be to follow the PakistaniÕs
precedence;
ADB Assisting
Pakistan Develop Energy Model to Meet Requirements
http://preview.tinyurl.com/35y4qu
As you see in it, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) provided US$2 million to
Pakistani to develop an energy model that would create an energy sector
development plan that will meet the needs of an expanding economy.
BTW, you may also be interested in retrieving the following;

fiber along the super highway which is to be constructed along the ancient silk
road with US$18 billion which was pledged by him a few years ago.

These were mentioned in the Reference (e) above.
Dear Sikder, Lutfor and other colleagues in Bangladesh:
(5) My wife, Hisae, and I were very grateful to the warm hospitality extended
to us, when we were kindly invited by Silder to his conference in the fall of
2004.
During my keynote speech, I mentioned of the need of an economic simulation
model for rational policy analysis and recommendations, which is the same
direction as described above.
I hope you would attend the workshop of Reference (c) as much as possible, and
work toward the construction of a national economy simulation model.
Dear Dr. Qu:
(6) I wish you a very good luck to the success of your seminar in Dhaka,
Bangladesh.
Best, Tak

Dear Dennis, I read with interest your mail to Tak and wanted to introduce you
to the Millennium Institute. Please check out our website to see if you feel
that we could contribute to your Bihar project, or other projects that you know
of and that are concerned with the impact of climate change and seeking options
for adaptation.
MI will carry out a workshop across the border in Bangladesh, Oct 7 and 8.
Please see attachment for details.
I was wondering if you or anyone you now may have an interest in the topics
discussed. It is my understanding that CC will affect millions in Bangladesh
and so in India too. There will be major migrations in
the whole Ganges and Brahmaputra Delta.
We hope to get a broad stakeholder dialogue going, supported by system dynamics
models, to map out sensible ways forward, that have the full buy in from the
affected or to be affected populations.
Please let me know if you can recommend some group or persons that could attend
the workshop. alternatively, we could also organize a similar workshop at some
point on the India side of the border. Your
suggestions would be welcome.
Kind regards, Hans
