Dear Andrea:

(1) I understand that your Millennium Institute has a contract with The Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS
) to construct national energy economy system dynamic simulation models of their 15 member countries — starting with Nigeria;

(2) I would greatly appreciate it if you can kindly consider of the use of ÒCloud ComputingÓ technology — see References (a) and (b) above — in some of appropriate time of your development (either from the beginning or after your completion of each country models).

Previously, I proposed to install those models in Beowulf super minicomputers scattered around the world and to link through broadband Internet to form Globally Distributed Socio-Economic-Environmental Simulation Model;

And then, I depicted how those models are to be interlinked as;

However, if you use the cloud computing technology, you would not need to construct those interface software through Internet, since those models would be in a virtual super computer anyway.

This super computer would be located somewhere at the service vendorÕs location in advanced countries, thus, your counterparts in ECOWAS countries would not need to worry about the maintenance of their super computer to store and maintain the model after you constructed for them.  They would need just a narrow band Internet as they may already have.  In a sense, we are going back to the good old days of the so-called ÒTime-SharingÓ -- of course, with more versatility than before.

Pls let me know your thought on this matter, -- if affirmative, I will start locating appropriate vendors.

Dear Amit:

(3) The second para in Page 12 of the Reference (b) above mentions your firm as one of the users of this cloud computing technology.

Would you kindly learn from your colleagues about this technology if and how our GCEPG can be applied?

Thanks in advance.

Best, Tak
