Subject: Re:
FW: global summit in Abu Dhabi
Dear
Tak,
thank you for your mail, and for the impressive list of projects.
Thanks very much to Paul for his nice and effective introduction. We know
eachother since a long time time and he's the most trustworthy and reliable
person I have never met. :)
All of your projects, Tak, could be relevant to our summits, but we have to
select the right ones for particular summits. To take an example relevant to
the Future Capitals summit, your conflict resolution work is the kind of thing
that could interest mayors and peacekeepers in cities that have experienced
conflict, also heads of UN agencies (eg you may know Dr Carlos Lopes of UNITAR;
he is considering speaking at the FC summit).
We have evolved a policy on summits, as follows:
- we ask each new proposer (you, in this case) to work with us to maximize the
number of attendees at the summit who will attend the proposer's open session
and who are in a position to authorize their organization's collaboration with
the proposer
- the number and level of attendees at a session determines our scope to pay
for the proposer's travel and accommodation, and the amount of space we can
allocate in the programme and in side meetings to address the issues raised by
the proposer (eg to explore the possibility that social entrepreneurs in the
Gulf may want to pledge some support or match funding for the proposer)
Your mailing list includes many people who have the necessary position power (eg,
heads of foundations, mayors, directors of very large companies, current or
former directors of UN agencies, heads of section in large public-sector
organizations, Ministers, Heads of State). It becomes much easier to cover your
needs if you can invest your time to help us to build a high-level delegation
that you select from your contacts
Of course, once you have selected your delegation, we (GLT) can support with
invitation letters as well as all the needed followup at the level appropriate
for each contact introduced.
Please let me know if this is interesting for you.
Yours sincerely
Giorgio Da Bormida
