Dear Tapio:

(1) My wholehearted congratulations to your receiving a wonderful greeting from Mme Tarja Halonen, President of the Republic of Finland for your conference of Reference (a) above.

Message from the President of the Republic of Finland
to the International Workshop on Ubiquitous ICT for Sustainable
Education and Cultural Literacy in HŠmeenlinna, 6-7 October 2008
http://tinyurl.com/4wzcr8

I presume that you are now concluding this conference with great success.

(2) I am particularly happy to read your msg as indicating your renewed strong intention to leverage the followings at this occasion;

(a) UNESCO/UNITWIN Chair for global e-learning,
(b) UNESCO/UNEVOC for vocational training.

(3) I eagerly look forward to receiving your plans for them after discussing with Kaisa and Paul — particularly on KaisaÕs Finnish Noblesse Oblige Project of References (b)-(d) above.

As proposed before, you may proceed to make this project as the Finnish national project.  As also mentioned to you during our discussion here in Flushing on 9/13th, education services are now becoming exportable commodities, e.g., almost US$ 10 to 15 billion in the US (including tuitions and living costs of about 650,000 foreign students), about US$ 6 to 8 billion in Canada, etc.  I am sure that your Finnish world #1 status in education, vocational training and innovation, etc. would be very appealing and attractive to many developing countries, for which you can effectively utilize our GUS.

Best, Tak

Subject: Our Presicdent & Unesco Chair Workshop

Dear Tak,

from tomorrow Monday the 6th you could add to our Finland information
the enclosed official message by Mme Tarja Halonen, President of the
Republic of Finland, which perfectly reflects our philosophy of fair
globalization, education, women«s role, and ICT. I think it will form
the basis for my future plans with the Unesco Chair and Unevoc centre
here. I will elaborate these plans after the conference.

Best wishes,

Tapio
