Dear Marco:

(1) Albeit very belated, many, many thanks for your msgs (ATTACHMENT I
).

I also thank you for your following very interesting and inspiring paper;

Professor Marco Antonio Rodrigues Dias
Globalization and Dialogue of Civilizations: The Role of China
<http://preview.tinyurl.com/359de3>

I have read it with great interest.

(2) I thank you very much for your mentioning our workshop <http://www.uta.fi/%7etitava/EGEDL/> in Page 16;

In the presentation of the workshop on "Emerging Electronic Global Distance Learning" held at the University of Tampere, in Finland, from 9 to 13 August 1999, the organizers of that event declared that "the digital revolution and economic globalisation are taking us into a new era.  We are moving towards the global knowledge society where information, skills and competence become the driving forces of social and economic development.  The problems associated with this transformation cannot any longer be solved by traditional means. Effective learning requires upgraded multimedia educational materials which can only be used with the broadband Internet."

(3) BTW, you may be interested in reading the following article;

ÒWaving Goodbye to Hegemony

(4) In your paper of the Item (1) above, you say;

ÒIn Asian values, if I understood the debates correctly, the main force of the universe is based on solidarity, respect for the family and hierarchy, zeal for work, etc, and not individualism and competition.Ó

On the other hand, KhannaÕs article of the Item (3) above says;

ÒKarl Marx and Max Weber both chastised Far Eastern cultures for being despotic, agrarian and feudal, lacking the ingredients for organizational success.Ó

In the following diagram, the Eastern culture may be depicted with the vertical pyramid and the Western with the inverse-pyramid;

Thanks to rapid advancements of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and transportation, more people are mingling each other across boundaries, accelerating the creation of borderless global society.  We then need to create a new global culture for the new knowledge society, basing on the ÒUnity-in-Difference.Ó

Dear Kaisa:

(5) I strongly suggest that you read through the above two articles for your following project;

How is the progress of your construction of a fund raising material for this project?  Pls feel free to send me your next version draft so that we can work on it together.

Dear Marco:

(6) Your paper mentions about the creation of the International Institute on the Alliance of Civilizations (UNU-IAC), a new Research and Training Center of the United Nations based in Spain.

I wonder if they may be interested in our following projects;

(a) Quantitative Policy Analysis of Global Socio-Economic-Energy-Environment Development (GSEEED) Project

This is an initiation project of;

(b) Takeshi Utsumi, GLOSAS/USA
"Globally Collaborative Environmental Peace Gaming
"

In the near future, these projects would lead to;

"Globally Collaborative Innovation Network with Global University System," Paper for Learning Technology, IEEE Computer Society, Vol. 8, Issue 3, July, 2006

(7) About a quarter century ago, Prof. Michio Nagai was the President of Tokyo Institute of Technology, which is my alma mater.  He then became the Minister of Education to have brought the United Nations University to Tokyo.  He was one of my mentors.

Dr. Nagai and Prof. Onishi then introduce me to Mr. Edward Ploman, Vice Rector on Global Learning Division of the United Nations University.  When I visited him in his office, he indicated his strong willingness to support our projects.  However, alas, a few month after that, he got a cancer and hospitalized in Paris, and passed away.

I would greatly appreciate it if you can kindly check if the UNU-IAC may be interested in our projects.

Best, Tak
