Dear E-Colleagues:

Dear Jaroslaw:
(2) Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT I).
I am very delighted to know of your strong willingness to help the creation of
GUS/Poland. We will definitely count on you.
(3) BTW, pls visit the following web site;

As you see in it, he was born in Poland, though emigrated to Boston in his
infant age.
You can also visit very interesting stories about the pioneers of modern
digital telecommunication technologies at <http://www.ibiblio.org/pioneers/index.html>.
Dear Kaisa and Marita:
(4) Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT I) with very interesting and
exciting news about your new book.
I am very happy to learn that you have received tremendous publicity about the
book so far. My wholehearted congratulations to its publication.
I am very delighted to know that your Human-centric Knowledge Society and BertÕs Ògift economy,Ó
ÒFourth SectorÓ or Òfor-benefit sectorÓ are the future directions of industrial
society of the world.
Yes, the timing is just good for the book, especially for the leaders of
industry and commerce.
(5) I would very much like to have Japanese leaders read this book.
When its English version comes out, it would be easier to look for its Japanese
translator.
On the other hand, you may ask Tapio if he knows any Japanese who has Finnish
capability.
I am
very happy to know that your son is now learning Japanese — he may need
to visit Japan someday?!
Pls reserve a copy of the English version to me and let me know its
availability.
(6) The title of the book (From Slave to Master) is very appropriate, indeed.
Although I mentioned in the Item (5) of my previous list distribution of 2/17th
mentioned above, the title is similar to ÒTo Lead is To ServeÓ of my following
slide <http://tinyurl.com/2u8s22>.

(7) I am very, very delighted to read the last sentence of your msg.
Thank you again for your effort!! You have done it very well,
indeed!!
Dear Bert:
(8) You seem to have very good friends for your creating GUS/Poland.
Best, Tak

Subject: Our
book is ready - here short introduction
Dear
Tak,
Thank You very much for your valuable words and your excellent advices, again.
I found really interesting connection between out paper of Human-centric
Knowledge Society and BertÕs paper Ògift economy,Ó ÒFourth SectorÓ or
Òfor-benefit sectorÓ which terms Bert, both indicating the future direction of
industrial society
You asked about our book. Yes it is now ready. It was published in Finnish last
October. WE wanted to wait the reaction before to tell more about it to you. We
are at this moment very happy about the interest that book has risen up in
Finland. We have got a lot of positive feedback. People have been excited and
the book has got also a good amount of publicity in magazines, newspapers and
even in TV. It looks like the timing was correct for this kind of book.
We do not know yet when it is going to be available in English. We are open for
suggestions! Would be nice to get it also in Japanese. (My youngest son is
studying Japanese but he cannot make it yet!)
I made here very short (it is 402 pages!!) introduction what that book
contains. Here it comes:
The Title of the Book is in Finnish RengistŠ IsŠnnŠksi: Vapaaksi
kvartaalitalouden talutusnuorasta (freely translated: "From Hiredman
(slave?) to Master: Free from the leash of the short-term economy"). The
content is devided into four main sections (steps).
- The First Step of book describes the spirit of current situation showing how
short-term (Quartal) economy has dramatically changed the values and balance of
our daily life, way of working, societies and global economy - making most of
the people feel themselves unhappy or even ill. In this process human beings
have become more like subordinates (slaves of this age because they cannot
manage their own time and life) of economy, technology, production,
competitiveness etc. The vehicle (economy) has become the goal of the whole
society and it directs the daily life of people. In this shift process we are
losing step by step our deepest values, our humanity and happiness of daily
life (people are overloaded and stressed, families suffer, divorces increases,
we have less time to the meaningful elements in our life, nearest, etc.). At
the same time we expect that the rise of the economy in future will become from
the immaterial economy that is based on the innovativeness of human beings!?
This is a growing contradiction. The tension among (knowledge)
individual/workers is growing fast. We think that the world and societies
init have come to a crossroads: Is it the deadend of current economy, society or even humanity? The
traditional thinking of the industrial age can no longer explain new economic,
social and human tensions and conflicts. We have to find the new paradigm and
the new direction.
- The Second Step of book try to find how deep this ongoing transition phase
(paradigm shift) is? Can we learn from the history? Is it the paradigm shift
from Industrial age to New Knowledge Age or even to New Epoch? Many evidences
exist that it could be even new epoch. If so, we need much bigger change in
paradigm shift, new worldview. That is as big change as moving from agricultural epoch
to industrial epoch starting 400 years ago!! How are we going to do that? Who
are the forerunners (societies, countries, economies of that process)?
- in the Third Step of book we describe in more details the expectations and elements
of coming future society and economy. Creative knowledge intensive and
network-based. The creative production is the new production model and the
methods of Taylor do not work in that production. Effectiveness destroys
creativeness! From current situation, deepness of paradigm shift and foresights
we then create our proposition for the main framework of the new worldview
(paradigm) of this coming new epoch. We believe it has to be human-centric
and with new great respect for nature. From the basis of this new worldview we then outline our
manuscript - new
vision, new goal, new value base, strategic intent and strategy path - for the
future of Finnish Society in 2012. Happy life and wellbeing of people are the main goals of that
manuscript not the rise of economy nor the growing needs of materiality.
- In the Fourth Step we describe via real individual stories how this paradigm shift is
going on already under the surface among people in Finland. More and more
individual people, (knowledge) workers, experts, managers have left/are leaving
their ordinary (even well paid) salary jobs in big organizations (as we
left Nokia) - starting their new, better and more value-based life. Some of
them have established their own nanocorporations, some of them have taken new
jobs with even less salary but with more spare time with families. These
forerunners have the Mission: they want to show the way to the better future Society
and Economy. That society and economy has new goals and values - where Human
beings, Humanity and the real Meaning of Life have been found again and put
them back to their right position as leading elements – masters.
Economy, technology, systems, materiality, competitiveness and
productivity etc. have been returned to their right position – to
vehicles.
After this heavy, two year process of writing this book, we are now more
convinced that our Dream of Human-centric Creative Knowledge Society can become
to true – even faster than we expected. We have no other alternative.
Best regards
