Pls also visit the meeting note which was taken by Bill Benzon at;
Notes,
meeting of 6 July 2006 at Columbia School of Public Health

Dear Bill:
Many thanks for this excellent, yet concise note.
Dear All who attended the mtg:
I thank you very much for your attendance, and valuable, inspiring
presentations.
Dear Zena and Rita:
Many, many thanks for your very kind arrangement of this mtg. It was very
interesting, productive and fruitful mtg.
(2) The purposes of this mtg were;
1. To learn each otherÕs activities in
terms of global e-learning and e-healthcare/telemedicine.
2. To seek threads of collaboration.
3. To discuss direction of
cooperation, e.g., formation of a group or coalition for exporting (later
importing) educational, healthcare (and later cultural) services in tri-state
around NYC to (later from) developing countries, and then construction of a
portal for those services and delivery mechanism, etc.
4. To plan future actions, e.g.,
planning workshop and fund-raising for it, etc.
I am very delighted to inform you that we formed a group (with a tentative name
of GUS/USA/New York Chapter), who would work on the export of services
available from world renowned educational, healthcare and cultural institutions
around the New York City, to developing countries. The NYC is the
treasure trove of those excellent services.
BTW,
this has been my long-standing dream since I came to the NYC almost a half
century ago.
(3) This will be in cooperation with the World Island project of the World
Development Endowment Foundation <http://www.wdef.org/>, which I mentioned in my following list distributions;
(a) (05/26/06) Support for World Island
Project
http://makeashorterlink.com/?Q2732513D
(b) (06/25/06) Valuable suggestions for GUS Project and close relationship
between Japan and Croatia
http://makeashorterlink.com/?Q14E5216D
Pls also visit the following beautiful, impressive slide show presented by
Jerry Greenberg and Bill Benzon during our mtg, -- particularly slides #37 and
39, which mentioned our intention to have an operation center of our GUS at the
World Island;

show of the World Island project

The proposal of this World Island Project has been submitted to the New York
City last May, and their final decision is to be made in this coming fall.
(4) Regardless to its outcome, we plan to have a formal and intensive workshop
to enhance the activities of this newly formed coalition in the coming fall,
e.g., coordination, interaction and sharing experiences and knowledge on global
e-learning and e-healthcare/telemedicine.
Best, Tak
