This was my acceptance speech of the prestigious Lord Perry Award for Excellence in Distance Education from the University of the World in San Antonio, Texas on November 1, 1994. The Lord Perry Award is the highest honor conveyed upon those who are stretching the limits of technology to support the fast growing field of distance education.

It was my great honor to receive this award and to join the distinguished group of prior recipients, Professor Yash Pal (renowned nuclear physicist and former Minister of Science and Technology of India), Dr. Arthur C. Clarke (inventor of satellite and futurologist), and Ambassador Jose Chaves (former Minister of Education and Ambassador to the United Nations from Colombia).

It was given to me by Lord Perry by himself personally.  As you may know, he established the U.K.  Open University which was emulated in more than 50 other countries around the world.

(3) I wish you a very good luck to your forthcoming conference ÒFifth International Internet Education Conference: Building Knowledge SocietyÓ in Cairo, Egypt, on September 11 to 13, 2006;
