Japanese first generation immigrants to the west coast of the U.S. encouraged their children to be educated in the east coast, as saying "Go to East!!"

People in western states of the U.S. often say "Back to East" for their trip to the east coast.

Jewish people pilgrimage to Wailing Wall in Jerusalem -- East as a mecca.

Western culture moves toward west.

Oriental/Eastern culture is based on polytheism with Buddhism, Confucianism, and Shintoism.

Polytheism, by logic, makes human compare gods, i.e., human could be superior to god, e.g., a living god by the Japanese emperor during their militarism.

On the other hand, Western culture is based on monotheism with Judeo Christianity which god is absolute.
Oriental/Eastern culture and society is often said as feminine/mother like. Western culture and society is often said as masculine/father like.
Oriental/Eastern culture was originated in agriculture society. Western culture was originated in hunting society.
